Coactive Networks Expands Support for Management and HMI Applications
Coactive Router Family Adds Support for LNS-Based Tools and Applications
SAUSALITO, Calif., November 2, 1998 -- Coactive Networks, a pioneer in control network connectivity solutions, today announced new features to deliver Ethernet connectivity to companies using network management and human machine interface applications based upon the LNS development platform. The Coactive Router family of products, which extend EIA-709 (LonWorks) control systems over Ethernet, has been updated to include options for connecting to LNS-based applications such as the Echelon LNS DDE Server and LonMaker for Windows integration tool.
“Many new applications used in building automation are based upon the LNS platform,” said David Gaw, president of Coactive Networks. “Coactive is committed to extending control systems to enterprise networks and the Internet, and therefore is interested in actively supporting all interfaces and platforms used to manage and visualize data from these systems.”
About the Coactive Router Family
The Coactive Router-LE remote access interface offers cost-effective, reliable access to LonWorks control networks from a central workstation with an Ethernet connection. Computers which currently access the control system using a direct connection can instead gain remote access over Ethernet by using the Router-LE. With the new LNS interface option available for the Router-LE, LNS-based applications can also access the LonWorks network across Ethernet.
The Router-LL multiprotocol LonTalk/IP router allows multiple LonWorks subnetworks to intercommunicate across an IP backbone. The Router-LL extends control systems across IP LAN and WAN connections, reducing wiring costs, increasing bandwidth, and enhancing system flexibility. The Router-LL supports LNS-based LonWorks systems out of the box; in addition, LNS-based applications can control timing and other network parameters to optimize communications across the LAN or WAN.
