Coactive Networks President Named to LonMark Board of Directors

David Gaw Elected to Interoperability Standards Association

SAUSALITO, Calif., July 14, 1998 -- Coactive Networks today announced that the company’s president, David Gaw, has been elected to the LonMark Interoperability Association’s Board of Directors. LonMark is an independent organization which establishes interoperability standards for the controls industry. The LonMark Board of Directors convenes and coordinates task groups, consolidates recommendations, and provides overall management of the 200-member association.

“Connectivity to LANs and the Internet is important in an increasingly broad range of application areas,” said David Gaw, president of Coactive. “Building upon Coactive’s membership as a LonMark Partner and Coactive CTO Ed Koch’s leadership of the LonMark Router Task Group, this event furthers Coactive’s dedication to open standards across industries.”

Founded in 1994 with over 200 members today, including virtually every major controls company in the building industry worldwide, the LonMark Association’s mission is to enable the integration of multi-vendor systems based on LonWorks networks using standard tools and components. Over 3,500 companies are using LonWorks control networks across industries, including building, industrial and home automation, as well as telecommunications, transportation and other industries.

The association provides an open forum for member companies to work together on marketing and technical programs to advance the LonMark standard for open, interoperable control systems. In addition, the organization defines design guidelines for interoperable devices based on LonWorks and certifies products that meet the LonMark standard.

David Gaw co-founded Coactive Networks and currently serves as the company’s president. He has a background in computer science, having managed, researched and developed systems in artificial intelligence and object-oriented design. David holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Drexel University, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Florida. Prior to founding Coactive, he held senior engineering positions at Advanced Decision Systems and carried out research at the Laboratory for Applied Machine Intelligence and Robotics at Drexel University.
