Coactive Extends Ethernet Router Features with Router-LE 2.0

Advanced Features Enhance Security and SLTA Back-Compatibility

SAUSALITO, Calif., October 15, 1997 -- Coactive Networks, Inc. today announced the Router-LE 2.0, a LonTalk/Ethernet Router for connecting applications to LonWorks across an Ethernet TCP/IP network. The Router-LE 2.0 is currently shipping.

The Router-LE 2.0 allows LonWorks applications to operate over a LAN/WAN in the same fashion as when connected directly to the LonWorks network, e.g. using an SLTA. This solution delivers increased performance and flexibility for system designers. The Router-LE supports most standard LonWorks tools and applications, including ICELAN-G, MetraVision, VisualControl, LonMaker, the Echelon DDE Server, and custom applications. LonWorks is a leading device network technology and is used in control and monitoring applications in a variety of industries including Building Automation, Power Utilities, Machine Control, Industrial Automation, and Transportation.

"The Router-LE 2.0 continues Coactive's commitment to providing powerful, flexible connectivity between LonWorks and the enterprise," said Dan Hennage, VP Development. "The addition of security and SLTA-like features make moving your application across Ethernet easier and safer."

Features of the Router-LE 2.0 include password protection, a remote host mode, and the ability to simultaneously connect a single host to multiple Router-LE units as well as other network interfaces. The Router-LE 2.0 also supports more flexible device naming, and includes a communications efficiency increase of almost 50%.
